Goal: lose fat

Lose fat without living inside a calorie app

On paper, fat loss fits in one line: a sustained calorie deficit, enough protein and patience. And yet most people fail. Because what breaks diets is not the theory: it is the daily work of logging everything, doing the math and making decisions while hungry.

Biokode attacks exactly that part: it reduces logging to a photo or a sentence, does the math for you and warns you when something drifts, before the week is lost.

Where diets die (and what to do about it)

  • Logging gets abandoned: with photo, voice or a sentence, logging takes 10 seconds and survives restaurants, meal prep and snacking.
  • The scale demotivates: Biokode shows you the multi-week trend, not the daily noise of water and digestion.
  • The numbers are hard to read: the coach turns them into plain sentences like "you’re short on protein" or "your real deficit this week was half the plan".
  • The plan goes stale: adaptive TDEE recomputes your expenditure from your data, and your target follows the pace you chose.

A pace you can actually sustain

Biokode works with moderate deficits (10–20% of your expenditure) and a pace you pick: gentle, moderate or intensive. Fat lost slowly is fat that stays lost; aggressive plans win a month and lose the year.

Protein is deliberately kept high during fat loss (1.8–2.4 g/kg) to protect muscle: losing weight is fine; losing muscle is not.

The advantage of a coach who already knows you

Three weeks in, Kodi knows what your real week looks like: office Tuesdays, the Friday social dinner, your tendency to skip weekend logging. Its nudges come from there (“three Saturdays in a row without dinner logs; want to voice-log it quickly?”), and that is why they work.

And when a day goes completely sideways, the coach doesn’t lecture: it reframes the week and moves on. The goal is the month’s average, not Tuesday’s perfection.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight can I expect to lose per week?

With moderate deficits, typically 0.3–0.7 kg (0.7–1.5 lb) per week depending on your starting point; more at first from water. Biokode shows your real pace and flags it if it leaves the reasonable range in either direction.

Will I have to give up eating out or beer?

No. Everything fits the budget if it is counted, and counting a restaurant dinner with Biokode means saying it out loud. The deficit your social life tolerates is the one you will maintain.

Will this work if I already failed with MyFitnessPal or similar apps?

Most quitting is about friction, not method. If what burned you out was searching foods and weighing portions, photo and voice logging removes exactly that part.

What happens when I plateau?

Plateaus are a normal part of the process. Biokode distinguishes a real plateau (flat trend with reliable logging) from an apparent one (water, an odd week) and adjusts the plan only when it is warranted.

Is this appropriate if I have a history of disordered eating?

With an eating disorder history, calorie counting may not be the right tool for you: talk to a healthcare professional first. Biokode is designed for healthy adults.
